Strange whining, humming, or grinding sounds
This is caused by low or contaminated transmission fluid, damaged gears, failing bearings, a worn torque converter, misaligned gear sets, or a failing transmission pump, all of which can disrupt proper lubrication and gear engagement.
Delayed or rough shifting
This may be caused by degraded transmission fluid, clogged transmission filters, worn clutch packs or bands, a faulty shift solenoid, valve body problems, or issues with the transmission control module, these issues interfere with hydraulic pressure and timing during gear changes.

I loved everything about my 2005 VW Golf 4-door with a 5-speed manual transmission except for the fact that it was sometimes difficult to shift into first gear from a stop.
Art of Maintenance fixed this quirky shifting problem and replaced the clutch as well since it was needed at 180,000 miles.

I can’t say enough amazing things about these guys! I have brought my old s10 pickup to numerous places over the years and this is the ONLY place I will ever go to from here on out. Not only that but they installed mud flaps and an old bulb for free since it only took them 20 mins, I mean what other shop cares about loyalty this much? I’ve been going here for years for electrical problems for my cars. There the place I recommend everyone for anything electrical but I purchased a new car the other day right down the street from them and they were willing to squeeze me in for a pre purchase inspection.
