Engine Repair Services

Why Choose Art of Maintenance for Engine Repair?

Engine problems can develop gradually or appear without warning. Whether it’s an unusual noise, a persistent check engine light, rough performance, or a noticeable loss of power, addressing the issue early can prevent more extensive and expensive repairs. Because today’s engines combine advanced mechanical and electronic systems, accurate diagnosis is just as important as the repair itself.

Art of Maintenance provides repair with a focus on precision, transparency, and long-term reliability. Our technicians take the time to inspect your vehicle thoroughly, identify the root cause of the problem, and recommend repairs based on your engine’s actual condition, not guesswork. From ignition and fuel system concerns to overheating issues and internal repairs, every service is performed with careful attention to detail.

Signs Your Vehicle May Need Engine Repair

Engine issues often begin with warning signs that shouldn’t be ignored. Schedule an inspection if you notice:

This is often an indication of an underlying engine performance or fuel management issue that requires diagnosis and repair. Common causes include worn spark plugs, failing ignition coils, clogged or leaking fuel injectors, a malfunctioning oxygen sensor, mass airflow (MAF) sensor, or engine coolant temperature sensor, all of which can cause the engine to operate with an inefficient air-fuel mixture. Additional factors such as vacuum leaks, a restricted air filter, carbon buildup in the intake system, improper ignition timing, low engine compression, or excessive internal engine wear can also reduce fuel efficiency. In some cases, a partially restricted exhaust system or engine control module (ECM) faults may contribute to increased fuel consumption.

A check engine light that remains illuminated often indicates that the engine has detected a fault requiring diagnosis and repair. Common engine-related causes include worn or fouled spark plugs, failing ignition coils, fuel injector malfunctions, vacuum leaks, low engine compression, timing issues, or problems with engine sensors such as the mass airflow (MAF) sensor, crankshaft position sensor, or camshaft position sensor. Mechanical concerns, including damaged valves, worn piston rings, or a failing timing chain or belt, can also trigger the warning light. In addition, issues affecting the air-fuel mixture or engine emissions, such as intake manifold leaks or exhaust system faults, may cause the light to remain on.

Excessive exhaust smoke is often an indication of an internal engine or fuel system problem that requires diagnosis and repair. Blue smoke typically indicates that engine oil is entering the combustion chamber due to worn piston rings, damaged valve stem seals, or excessive cylinder wear. White smoke may suggest coolant is being burned as a result of a blown head gasket, cracked cylinder head, or damaged engine block, while black smoke commonly indicates an overly rich air-fuel mixture caused by faulty fuel injectors, a malfunctioning fuel pressure regulator, restricted air intake, or a defective mass airflow (MAF) sensor. Additional causes may include turbocharger seal failure on turbocharged engines or malfunctioning engine management sensors that affect fuel delivery.

Rough idling or excessive engine vibration typically indicates an engine performance issue that requires diagnosis and repair. Common causes include worn spark plugs, failing ignition coils, clogged or malfunctioning fuel injectors, vacuum leaks, restricted air intake components, or a faulty mass airflow (MAF) sensor. Engine misfires, low compression resulting from worn piston rings or damaged valves, incorrect valve timing, or fuel delivery problems can also cause the engine to idle unevenly. Additionally, deteriorated engine mounts may transmit normal engine movement into the vehicle, making vibrations more noticeable even when the engine is operating properly.

Knocking, ticking, or other unusual engine noises often indicate internal engine wear, lubrication problems, or failing mechanical components that require further diagnosis and repair. Common causes include low or contaminated engine oil, worn connecting rod or main bearings, piston slap, excessive valve train wear, faulty hydraulic lifters, damaged rocker arms, worn camshaft lobes, or timing chain and timing chain tensioner wear. Engine detonation caused by improper ignition timing, poor-quality fuel, or excessive carbon buildup may also produce knocking sounds under load. Additionally, damaged accessory drive components, loose engine parts, or failing pulleys can create noises that may appear to originate from the engine.

This is caused by engine performance or fuel delivery issues that require diagnosis and repair. Common causes include clogged fuel injectors, a weak or failing fuel pump, restricted fuel filters, worn spark plugs, faulty ignition coils, or engine misfires that reduce combustion efficiency. Air intake restrictions, vacuum leaks, a malfunctioning mass airflow (MAF) sensor, throttle body problems, or incorrect air-fuel mixture can also significantly reduce engine performance. Additionally, low engine compression resulting from worn piston rings, damaged valves, head gasket failure, or incorrect valve timing due to a worn or damaged timing chain or timing belt may cause a noticeable loss of power.

This is caused by a malfunction within the engine cooling system or an internal engine condition that requires prompt diagnosis and repair. Common causes include low coolant levels, coolant leaks, a failing water pump, a stuck thermostat, a clogged or damaged radiator, restricted coolant passages, or inoperative electric cooling fans. A slipping or broken drive belt, faulty radiator cap, or collapsed radiator hose can also reduce the cooling system’s ability to regulate engine temperature. In more severe cases, overheating may result from a blown head gasket, cracked cylinder head, or damaged engine block, allowing coolant loss or combustion gases to enter the cooling system. Continued operation while the engine is overheating can lead to significant engine damage.

This is caused by an engine performance, fuel delivery, ignition, or mechanical issue that requires diagnosis and repair. Common causes include worn spark plugs, failing ignition coils, a weak or malfunctioning fuel pump, clogged fuel injectors, a restricted fuel filter, or inadequate fuel pressure. A faulty crankshaft position sensor, camshaft position sensor, engine coolant temperature sensor, or mass airflow (MAF) sensor can also prevent the engine from starting properly by disrupting engine management functions. Additionally, low engine compression caused by worn piston rings, damaged valves, a failed head gasket, or incorrect valve timing due to a worn or damaged timing chain or timing belt may result in extended cranking or a no-start condition.

After someone punched a hole in my gas tank over the holidays, Kevin and the team at Art of Maintenance helped me out. They were very professional and managed to replace the gas tank and return my truck to me the same day! I was not expecting such a quick turnaround, but it made the whole situation a little bit better.

I’ll absolutely go back to Art of Maintenance for other repairs.

Ethan Tooker

Excellent customer service!

I have been put through hell when I comes to mechanics working on my vehicles, but not at Art of Maintenance. They got my vehicle in and tested the issues quickly, did the work right and made sure I knew what was going on every step of the way. Every question I had they answered and made me feel like my car was in good hands. Now having my car back all of the issues have been fixed, and I have peace of mind. Car maintenance is not cheap but at least when you go to Art of Maintenance they make sure you get the best customer service with efficient and accurate work.
Thank you!!

Art of Maintenance is the best! this place is convenient, friendly, and down right reasonable for me. This review is a bit late, but I visited in the summer of 2018. I got recommended to visit after my tire flattened with a nail and my cigarette lighter blew out. The crew squeezed my car in and immediately worked on it (I should mention it wasn’t too busy). I got my car back after a couple of hours with a perfect patched tire and fixed burned out fuse. Amazing! They were quick, responsive, and again FRIENDLY. I unfortunately forgot the gentlemen who helped me at the front counter. You guys rock! I am hoping to come check my car in sometime, but just wanted to show my appreciation for the help!

– UPDATE**CHECKED MY CAR**
Got my car checked a few months later and customer service is great but they are like other places where they check for everything (which could be good) and try to get you to spend a lot of money to change parts and even major vehicle components. Basically went there for a checkup and emphasized I wanted an oil change. Ended up spending $100 with a list of things wrong and how I will need to spend thousands to fix my car. The part that got me down was the fact I didn’t get an oil change lol IF ONLY THERE WAS A SHOP THAT WAS ABLE TO BALANCE BETWEEN THINGS YOU “SHOULD” and “HAVE” TO GET. But hey it’s a business so you gotta be like that sometimes. I might go back if my car ever needs those changes. Again they are nice people tho!

I love these guys. They go out of their way to keep in touch.

Derrick Wheeler

Best service I have ever received with the most friendly staff! I will be coming back for all my vehicle needs because this place is literally a gem!

goddingcat

Everyone was great and super friendly. I’ve been coming here for 7 years and never had a complaint.

Tyler Leecing

Kevin and his crew did an analysis of engine troubles that had led to an engine that was totally burned out. Though it was a surprising shock to hear that diagnosis, Kevin assisted us in locating a warranty extension that had been issued to the car. Without his help and research, we would not have been able to seek out and confirm that the car was covered under these conditions and that the manufacturer will replace the engine for no out-of-pocket cost to us. That is the kind of help that goes beyond the scope of regular work with customers. I would heartily recommend Kevin and this shop in regards to quality of work, pleasant experience, and above and beyond service.

Larry Reed

Great service they hand me in and fixed in 2 hours thanks Kevin
