Why Choose Art of Maintenance for a Charging System Test?
It is a simple way to check if your car’s battery, alternator, and other electrical parts are working like they should. It looks at how well your alternator is charging the battery and powering things like your lights, radio, and AC.
This test helps spot issues like a weak battery, a failing alternator, or loose connections before they turn into bigger problems. It’s a smart move to keep your car running smoothly and avoid unexpected breakdowns, especially before a long trip or during seasons when your car’s electrical system works harder, like peak winter or summer.
At Art of Maintenance, we bring expertise and care to every inspection. Our experienced technicians use advanced diagnostic tools to provide accurate results and personalized recommendations. With our customer-first approach, you can trust us to keep your car running smoothly and reliably, no matter the season. Whether you’re preparing for a road trip or just ensuring reliable daily drives, our charging system test service helps you avoid unexpected issues. Schedule your appointment today at Art of Maintenance, located in Portland, Oregon, and drive with confidence!

If your headlights seem dim or flicker, it could be a sign your alternator isn’t providing enough power.

When starting your car takes longer than usual, your battery or charging system may be the culprit.
Dashboard Warning Lights
A lit battery warning light on your dashboard is a clear indicator of potential charging system issues.

These guys are super helpful and detailed- much better than the dealer I used to use, my Toyota is getting old, but they are keeping it going – keeping track of and prioritizing the issues to keep me me on the road.
The team at Art of Maintenance is fantastic. They treated my car as if it was their own. One shop told me I needed new brakes and I brought to Art of Maintenance for second quote and they said I was good for a while longer on brakes even though it meant loss of business for them. They will be my new auto shop moving forward!
I had a great experience as well as a great follow up experience (I had to return due to me, not them!). And nice communication even after the job was completed.
Art of Maintenance is the only shop I’ll take my 2004 Honda Civic Hybrid.
Amazing staff and no-nonsense hospitality. They take care of you and the vehicle, and tell it to you straight.
They go above and beyond by providing you with a full detailed report sent to your phone. The report shows the urgency for each needed repair.
AoM is the best!
Took my Ford in to have it serviced ,they got me in and out .even vacuumed the truck out and the guys a the counter where very noligable and friendly. Great place will be telling all my friends and family
I have gone to this place a few times in the past, I had interacted with Kevin each time I was there. It was the holiday season and they where a little busy, I needed new breaks and new parts for the engine, originally it was thought that I’d be ready in January 3rd, unfortunately I was to move out of Portland on the 1st so I needed my car. I explained the situation to Kevin who was very professional and transparent, he was able to get things fixed for me sooner so that I’d be able to move out on time. Itd be easy for other people in his position to just throw their hands up and say “it is what it is” but he went the extra mile to as helpful and dexterous as possible, which shows that which shows that Art of Maintenance is committed to helping their customers.
They had my car done in a day. They were professional and even helped me finance the repairs when I didn’t have enough funds to cover all the costs. I will be using Art of Maintenance for any future repairs and preventative maintenance. Kevin was professional and kind.
I have known Jody for 5 yrs and Andy for 1 yr and they are very trustworthy and REALLY care about getting the work done right the first time. They are very knowledgeable and it is great that the shop is now under their new management. I recommend highly.
I loved everything about my 2005 VW Golf 4-door with a 5-speed manual transmission except for the fact that it was sometimes difficult to shift into first gear from a stop.
Art of Maintenance fixed this quirky shifting problem and replaced the clutch as well since it was needed at 180,000 miles.
Now I really enjoy driving my Golf even more!
Art of Maintenance did a wonderful job! I would absolutely come back here. Great prices and kind customer service.
When we arrived at Art of Maintenance (after waiting for 2 hours for our AAA tow truck) it was just a few minutes before they closed. Thankfully they were really friendly and helped us right away. Our car was ready to pick up the next day, and we couldn’t have been happier with the service!
Alternator started going bad. Went in there at 3:00 pm by 4:00 pm the problem was fixed. Very nice people. One took my wife home while I waited for the repair.
