Reasons for this may be a failing fuel pump causing inconsistent fuel delivery, clogged fuel injectors restricting proper combustion, a malfunctioning mass airflow sensor sending incorrect air-intake data to the ECU, ignition coil misfires, turbocharger boost leaks, or intermittent faults detected by the engine control module that trigger temporary limp-mode or timing/air-fuel adjustments.

We went to AOM for what we thought was a power steering problem on our 2006 Toyota 4Runner. That’s what they diagnosed and replaced the rack and pinion. What we didn’t expect was that, on picking up the vehicle, the rear wiper would not work and it had since we bought the car last year. Returned it to Kevin who was able to re-program the wiper relay. Now the front end is quiet and the rear window can have rain cleared off. Thanks, guys.

This has been the go-to service shop for myself and my parents for almost a decade. They do top-quality work and make you feel welcome. They’ve even done work pro-bono that was covered under our Honda warranty so we didn’t have to drive the extra distance to get it serviced by our manufacturer. I went to them years ago (in ~2008), seeking a second opinion when Midas told me my 17-y-o car was headed for the scrapper. I took the car in and got a call later saying the car was mechanically fine, it just had “a good shake on it.” (It would vibrate all over when I was stopped at a red light.) I drove the car for two more years, then sold it to a friend, who drove it for another two years. Art of Maintenance gave me hope, and helped my car live as long as it possibly could. They were a knowledgable voice of reason and I will always appreciate them for that.
